Why does our gov't & media push & force feed multi-culturalism so hard in the western World?

i take what they do with a grain of salt so i really dont believe they care about culture or anything like that. but im wondering outside of cheap labor, what is the benefit to them or their lobbyists to have such aggressive immigration policies? or is only about cheap labor?
