Need help with an old video game please !?

Anyone who's ever played the The Sims video game for plastation 2 tell me how can i get of the third level after leaving dudley's house.i've tried everything i moved out with a girl and she get she jealous on me and my social bar goes down and then he doesn't promoted. i tried moving out with a dude and then he starts getting gay and i'm not that kind of sim so what do i do. i've been playing this games for years and i can't beat it. i bought this game like 4 years ago and it driving crazy please someone help me.
