2009 Camry in dash lights wont come on.?

my camrys indash lights wont turn on (radio, speedometer, odmoter, and the rmp). I keep it on auto light all the time and today (at night) i went to drive it, i turned on my car and the lights in dash turned on for a good sec. now the only way to turn on my indash light is to turn off my head lights (instead of being on auto i have to put it on manually, and even if i do it like that the dash lights fail to turn on basically they dont turn on unless my head lights are off
